Our Mission
The Platte River Fitness Series seeks to build community, create inspiration and encourage empowerment through fitness.
One person and one step at a time. As is often the case when the year begins to fade and a new year looms ahead, we reflect on where the Platte River Fitness Series has been and assess where we need to go.
Rankings + How to Participate
The Platte River Fitness Series focuses on fitness through participation. We believe that the first step into an engaged and active life is an understanding that individuals must participate in their own fitness, health and well-being.
To earn participation points, an athlete must complete an event and earn a time. We also recognize the value in the personal challenge and fulfillment found in athletic competition. To encourage athletes to strive for more, participants are also awarded points for placing in their respective age group by gender in a fitness event.
Without the long-standing and generous support of Great Plains Health, our fitness initiative would not be possible. Funds provided to the Platte River Fitness Series provide the awards, banquet and prize money for the Platte River Fitness Series Points Competition and Finisher Challenge. These funds help support the Autumn River Run and Jingle Bell 5K outright, and also go toward additional initiative outreach like Leading Ladies Nebraska, Platte River FitKids, Couch to 5K and Beyond Program and the Kids Klub 5K fitness program. Great Plains Health truly cares about the health and wellness of our communities.
The Platte River Fitness Series is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Its work would not be possible without public/private partnerships with our local businesses and civic organizations.
